My new friend Sally

Today was the start of a better week. Last week sucked and I am glad it ended. The dark clouds of the hurricane have passed and it is time for the sunshine. Today, I took a trip to downtown St. Petersburg, "The Sunshine City." I popped into Starbucks for an iced coffee to perk me up from the oppressive heat, and I sat down outside in the shade to read a paper someone had left there. I read about Christina Applegate and how she has gone through with a double-masectomy to eliminate the breast cancer she was recently diagnosed with. Now she has ovarian cancer, I guess. She is having a much worse week than I am. After a bit, a girl shows up to sell me a tailor's dress form. I pay $50 cash, which is a very good deal considering that a good dress form can run in the thousands of dollars. I have been searching for months to find one I can actually afford, not to mention that I need one about my size. The girl turns out to be a local artist, and she uses dress forms to display artwork at shows. She gives me a rundown on the local scene and upcoming art events. Armed with a new tool to fight this creative starvation, I head the other way and find the Baywalk. A local tourist attraction, the Pier is surrounded by museums, boat rentals, the yacht club, and shopping, among other things. You can sit under the palm trees and sip your latte and look out over the Bay. Perhaps I will find my mojo here. Or at least an escape from science.
