Sewing Like Mad

Ren Faire is getting close. I'm going home. And getting more excited by the minute. For the past two days, the costume has been coming together. A new design was necessary, seeing as how most costumes for women entail some "sexy" aspect, like basically wearing a bikini tied together with shoestring and a cape thrown over the back. Precisely why I do not want to go as an elf. Elves are too vain for me, anyway. I much prefer the druid's earthy flavor. Most excitingly, I fond a pattern that matches what I want the outer leather armor to look like, although I couldn't find my size pattern. I thought I had one at home to lengthen, but it turns out I have instructions and not the pattern pieces. What happens next will be an experiment. I have 2 patterns and i'm combining them. But i dont want to put in a zipper, so we'll see if I can actually wear it once the dress is complete. It's just the underdress so who cares. I just really want sleeves. See the druid bag in the picture? I added the charm and the stitching. It's not professional quality by any means, but we'll just say my druid is an apprentice at tailoring. :) I'm doing a bit of ghetto sewing (top photo) and there's my fabulous dressform (that I finally measured today and of course has a much bigger bust than me!) and the potion bottles I found (3rd pic) and my little sewing station (last one). Here's hoping the experiment is a success.
