All About Ears

Last week, I attended a professional convention in Charlotte, NC. Each year, this conference is in a different US city. I always check out each city and compare it to other places i've been to decide if I would ever go back. Charlotte was odd. The downtown area was clean- too clean in fact. Construction was everywhere, but it seemed like all the buildings were brand new with the occasional historic site tucked in between. How can an entire downtown be brand new? This puzzled me. As I walked, I noticed security guards on every corner. I mean, I know audiologists are important people and all, but did they beef up security for the conference or is it always like this? Day and night, the security guards kept watch. And day and night I was puzzled. I did learn that Charlotte is called the Queen city after a real queen... named Charlotte. Who she was, I don't know, but maybe she was very tidy and paranoid about safety.
